TV Couples Who Became Off-screen Lovers
Life imitates art, as they say. While there are a lot of TV couples that we know and love, we also know that in the end, it’s all just an act. After all, they are paid to be quite as convincing in professing their love for one another as possible. Yet, there have been many celebrity couples on the small screen who had a different experience. While they were initially just co-workers and colleagues, over time, their on-screen relationship morphed into an off-screen one. Many of these celebrities may initially credit their relationship as “just business.”
For fans of these celebrities, it’s an added bonus to their already-devoted investment in their beloved shows. While some couples lasted for a few months or years, others went further and tied the knot for a lifetime. Regardless, these relationships can add an extra flavor to spice up many beloved series and perhaps entice more newcomers to watch them. Here are some of your beloved TV couples who became off-screen lovers:
Jon Snow & Ygritte
Fans of the HBO series Game of Thrones can’t get enough of the romantic relationship between Jon Snow and Ygritte. For those unfamiliar with the characters, Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, is the bastard member of the House of Stark and member of the Night’s Watch, while Ygritte, played by Rose Leslie, is a Free Folk who lived north of the Wall.
Harrington and Leslie starred together in the show from 2012 until 2014 when the character Ygritte passed away in the show’s 4th season. The twosome started a relationship in 2011 and tied the knot in 2018. Today, they have one son, who they make a lot of investment to, and have mostly lived quietly in their native Britain.
Jackie & Kelso
For fans of That 70s Show, many fell in love with Jackie and Kelso, who were played by Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, respectively. They were co-stars on the show from 1998 to 2006. Their characters were the first to be a couple in the series and were quite popular.
While they haven’t developed any romantic feelings over the course of the series, they did so six years later after the show wrapped in 2006. They started dating back in 2012. They got engaged in 2014, tied the knot in 2015, and welcomed two children together. Since then, they have together embarked on a lot of business ventures and investments, including a sustainable farm.
Rory & Jess
Many fans of Gilmore Girls hoped that Rory and Jess were the ones to be together at the end of the series. The actors who played them, Milo Ventimiglia and Alexis Bledel, respectively, had a real off-screen relationship. The fact that the co-stars were dating made the fans have an even bigger investment in the show. The co-stars started dating in 2002 before breaking up in 2006.
Today, they seem to be on good terms, as exemplified by their reunion for the series’ renewal in 2016. Interestingly enough, Biedel had another off-screen relationship, this time, with Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser. Unlike her four-year relationship with Ventimiglia, Bledel and Kartheiser tied the knot in 2014 and shared a child. As for Ventimiglia, he is currently single after his relationship with Hayden Panettiere from 2007 to 2009.
Nancy & Jonathan
For fans and viewers of the Netflix series Stranger Things, many were quite enamored with Nancy and Jonathan on its first season. Some of them even wanted for the two to be together since the first season. True enough, their long-awaited investment came true in the series’ 2nd season, when they became partners.
A year later, after Stranger Things came out in 2016, the actors who played them, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, made their love public after dating for a year. When news about this broke out, many fans were quite elated. Today, Dyer and Heaton remain as romantic partners.
